Yesterday I spent several hours looking for a decent restaurant in the Wilshire district in Brentwood heading towards Santa Monica.

The restaurant I finally chose, after passing several that were closed was a new diner that start 4 years ago...

The owner, when I asked how business was going, told me he is about to close-up shop; I asked about the cause & he told me the area, which used to have a lot of people local has died off.

He then pointed out at the commercial business spaces on Wilshire & said that most of the building were empty, when I asked about the condos, apartments directly behind his biz he said "They're all empty as well"

In my 60+ years of SoCal experience I've never seen it more dead; LA is starting to look like a *massive* ghost town...

BTW, Türkiye is the bellwether for the west, the canary in the coal mine, and it is dying:

"CRASH: Turskish lira has crashed -99.99% against U.S. dollar."

"I have warned that Turkey is one of the key geopolitical pressure points because it sits between East and West, Europe and Asia, NATO and the Islamic world. Everyone pretends Turkey is just another emerging market, but that is absurd."

"Turkey controls the Bosporus, it borders the Middle East, it has one of the largest militaries in NATO, and Erdogan has long tried to position himself as the leader of a *revived Ottoman sphere*."

Art Berman:

"My take: No Hormuz resolution ever."

Can't tell if this is absolute cinema or absurdist hyperbole ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

"Flows will return to 25-50% in 2027 with crushing effects that will change the world forever."

The spice "must" flow, but could be a feature; Not A Bug 🐛

"The biggest blunder in history."

Ugh, pretty sure most historians would either choose:

(A) Napoleon invading Russia.

(B) Operation Barbarossa.

These engagement farmers are willing to say anything for eyes 👀

Franz Kafka's avatar

I would choose the little penis piano player's attempted invasion of Russia with the 'secret' backing of the ectoplasmic Fourth Reich.

As always your Ukraine war summary heavily tilted to Russian propaganda, I guess the troll farms tweets have an effect.

No1's avatar

Possibly yes. But please do tilt it the other way in the comments.

The only thing I ask is to keep things factual.

It's helpful to counterbalance the mainstream media bias that distorts all other sources. Read the newspaper headlines, then read No1, then locate truth somewhere in the middle. Eastern Ukraine likely winds up a perennially volatile DMZ for decades to come when all is said and done.

Edmund T. Buckley's avatar

I think EVERYWHERE will be volatile for the next decade. Unfortunately.

"Oceania was at war with Eastasia. Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia...The war is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous; The war is waged by each ruling group against its own subjects, and the object of the war is not to make or prevent conquests of territory, but to keep the structure of society intact." ~ Winston Smith...or was it Winston Churchill?

War is a Racket" ~ General Smedley Butler

Edmund T. Buckley's avatar

Yeah, it was supposed to be a warning, not a blueprint. I've come to hold the belief that the goal is a neo-feudal society. A financial collapse would probably be considered a good thing if that is goal.

What if I told you there were no good guys?

Who you gonna trust; UkiNazi + ziocon/ziolib -or- RU + CCP spin?

What nationality are you? 😉

Graham's avatar

There are no good guys 😂i do not do whataboutism between systems. Nor do I follow flag planting on a map 😂

Franz Kafka's avatar

That leaves the Ouijah board.

Franz Kafka's avatar

By "Russian propaganda" may we assume that you mean the closet thing we have to an objective truth?

Graham's avatar

I mean the stream of fantasy and lies from Putins propaganda machine. How many times has Russia taken Kupiansk ? 🤪😂

Edmund T. Buckley's avatar

Try this guy from Singapore then, certainly more accurate than the BBC or CNN or Fox News. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2jQ_sZ7yyA&pp=ugUEEgJlbg%3D%3D

No1's avatar

No no no... Anything where Ukraine is even modestly losing is Russian propaganda 😉.

Just joking. If you want THE best Ukraine updates, follow @simplicius76 here on substack. (url: https://simplicius76.substack.com/)

Edmund T. Buckley's avatar

I already do. His Ukraine updates aren't always daily, and he has a pro-Rus viewpoint. I follow a few people; one of the curses inherent in being retired.

Franz Kafka's avatar

What is wrong with having a "Pro Rus" viewpoint? Seriously.

Edmund T. Buckley's avatar

My comment regarding Simplicius having a pro Rus viewpoint was made in respect of the original comment by Graham complaining about no1's reporting. It was why I picked DPA as a link, because, while "pro West", he has a neutral take on the fighting, using all sources and preferring video evidence. I have no problem with a pro Rus viewpoint. You just didn't take my comment in context with the entire thread.

Franz Kafka's avatar

Thank you for that. You are right. I was probably feeling a bit testy as I had not had my coffee yet. I may have also conflated you with "Graham".

I ought to be more careful and considerate as Doc John always is. I am not a Buddhist and Doc sure sells his beliefs through his example.

Franz Kafka's avatar

I looked. Seems 0K. Not that diff from Pro Rus reports because Rus seems more wedded to the truth. They may flirt but they do not cheat.

Graham's avatar

The regular interception of supplies along the Dzankoi - Taganrog supply corridor is not mentioned. Neither is the persistent Russian loss of ground on the Zaporizhia front. The land gained lost balance was in Ukraines favour last month, as were the killed/ wounded ratios for the 36th consecutive month. At 2.5 to 1 in ukraines favour.

Franz Kafka's avatar

Oh please! Suggest you go to source other than the penis piano player of Kiev (Zelenski) and the Kagan Nuland Dynasty who run Ukraine, the USSD and the Institute for the study of war.

In other words, get stuffed Mykhujlo ("Graham" my ar*e!).

Home Depot in Canada will fold soon. Staff outnumber customers a lot of the time. Building has become unaffordable and the Palace mole Carney is tasked with creating the first failed state under full WEF template control. Why? Anything to get the rebelled colonies (USA) back for The Thing of England.

Understatement of the day:

"Books shall be written."

https://xcancel.com/great_martis/status/2059446691020026108

The only question is if the digital "book" will be written by humans or Artifical Superintelligence (ASI) or a human with cybernetic capabilities?
