You are correct.

And the original tweet is not: ""Approximately 2 km remain before the complete encirclement of Ukrainian forces near Stary Oskol;""

Or he's reporting from an alternate universe of course 😉

The central bank of central banks just wrote the post-mortem in advance and handed it to the people still building the structure.

The circular financing loop the BIS described is not theoretical. Nvidia finances CoreWeave. CoreWeave signs a take-or-pay contract with Nvidia for GPUs. CoreWeave pledges those GPUs as collateral to raise debt. That debt funds more GPU orders from Nvidia. The same physical chip — or the contractual right to it — appears simultaneously as revenue on Nvidia's books, as an asset on CoreWeave's balance sheet, and as collateral in a lending facility. Three claims on one piece of silicon. The BIS looked at that structure and used the word "peril."

Three customers are 64% of Nvidia's revenue. Michael Burry is short the trade. Samsung and SK Hynix announced $1.3 trillion in ten-year capex commitments this weekend and their shares fell on the announcement. The market is no longer buying the story that the spending is justified by the returns. The BIS is now on record saying the financing structure itself is the risk, independent of whether the AI applications ever materialize.

The last time the BIS flagged a specific financing structure as circular and systemically dangerous was 2006. The asset class they were describing was mortgage-backed securities. The rating agencies were still stamping them AAA. The banks were still selling them. Everyone knew the underlying math didn't work and nobody wanted to be the first one to stop.

Micron's take-or-pay contracts lock 20% of global DRAM supply through 2030. Those contracts are only as good as the solvency of the hyperscalers signing them. The hyperscalers are on track for their worst month ever. The TFRP death cross is Day 6.

The BIS doesn't issue these warnings as market timing signals. It issues them as institutional cover for when the question gets asked later: did anyone see this coming?

They saw it coming.

The blurbs keep mentioning a death cross in gold.

Could you explain what that means?

ELI5?

50DMA crossing the 200DMA. Generally it doesn't bode well for the asset that has this. When it crosses the other way, it's generally a good sign.

The higher the timeframe, the more weight it has.
