Might an Israeli sub have fired ballistic missiles from near-Iran towards-Oman? (asking for a friend)

Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Twenty-four hours ago, Kushner's out there telling anyone with a microphone that talks were "robust" and "very positive" — the diplomatic equivalent of a doctor telling you the biopsy looks great right before he walks out of the room and calls hospice. Now the actual White House position is envoys instructed to STOP TALKING, full stop, and some genius on background has helpfully rebranded the strategy from "hammer ASAP" to "strangle over time," like they're describing a wine pairing instead of an open-ended siege on a country that just got told "war must end, not pause" by its own foreign minister in response. Somebody needs to tell Kushner the tectonic plates moved under him while he was still doing the victory lap.

"No talks or conversations going on, or scheduled." Read that sentence out loud and tell me it doesn't sound like a hostage note. "Naval blockade remains in full effect." Of course it does — you don't downgrade the leverage right after you announce you're switching to the slow-bleed strategy; that would defeat the whole point of calling it a strangle instead of a hammer. A hammer swings once, and it's over. A strangle just... continues. Forever, presumably, or until somebody's economy or somebody's patience runs out first, and given how this newsletter's been tracking diesel and SPR levels all week, I've got a pretty strong guess which side hits its wall first.

The gap between what Kushner said Tuesday and what the White House confirmed Wednesday isn't a communications hiccup; it's the sound of the actual policy getting made in real time, in public, by people who apparently didn't loop in their own son-in-law before the pivot. Stay tuned, stay armed with popcorn, and God help anyone still trading the "de-escalation" narrative on faith alone.

Stay nimble. Stay liquid. Stay cynical. Stay Savage!
