TL;DR: today vs. yesterday
Two things genuinely moved: Iran announced a second restricted maritime zone - this one outside Hormuz, starting at the US Navy's own blockade line - plus a corridor deal with Oman that excludes Washington, and Japan dumped a record $87.8bn of foreign securities to fund its yen intervention, pushing FX reserves back under $1tn. Saudi Arabia also opened direct cruise-missile strikes on four Yemeni governorates, and the AfD took Saxony-Anhalt with ~44% - the first far-right state win in Germany since 1945. Everything else (Donbas grind, diesel crack, gold accumulation) is continuation with fresh numbers.
1. Critical Alerts
Iran declares a restricted zone beyond Hormuz, plus an Oman corridor that excludes the US. SNSC secretary Mohsen Rezaei: the zone "will begin from the line of the US Navy's blockade and extend to areas in the Persian Gulf", and any ship entering goes on a sanctions list (MenchOsint, zerohedge). Separately reported: Iran to sign a Hormuz agreement with Oman, US not party to it (defense_civil25). Confidence: HIGH
Iran says it fired an anti-ship ballistic missile at a US warship - first time since the 40-day war. Rezaei: "48 hours ago, for the first time, we tested a unique anti-ship missile on an American warship" (bonzerbarry). Parliament speaker Ghalibaf: the era of proportionate responses is over, responses will be "faster, heavier, more painful" (Safarnejad_IR, BRICSinfo). Confidence: HIGH
Israeli intelligence warns of a coordinated multi-front Iranian attack around Rosh Hashanah, Sept 11-13. Hezbollah, Hamas, Ansarallah and Iraqi militias simultaneously; IDF chief Zamir ran a nationwide snap drill on a "sudden multi-front scenario" (HormuzLetter, TheIranianzg3z, MidnightVision5). All three trace to the same Jerusalem Post reporting - treat as one sourcing chain. Confidence: MEDIUM
Japan sold a record $87.8bn of foreign securities in August to fund the yen intervention. Bloomberg via chigrl; largest such sale in history per Barchart. FX reserves fell to $994.9bn from $1.09tn in July (zerohedge). Confidence: HIGH
AfD wins Saxony-Anhalt - first far-right state victory in Germany since 1945 - but falls short of a majority. ZDF projection: AfD 44.0%, CDU 17.7%, Linke 9.1%, SPD 8.9%, Grüne 8.7%, BSW 5.0% (phoenix_de). Sources disagree on the AfD final: 44.0% (ZDF projection), 44.2% (Alice_Weidel), 44.5% (Mark4XX). Confidence: HIGH
2. Core Themes
Hormuz: Iran's second blockade line goes outside the strait, and the paperwork trap closes
The zone as described isn't a reopening - it's a gated lane. Iran controls entry and exit points under the Oman arrangement, with insurance and future passage as the enforcement lever (ColdBrief). Confidence: MEDIUM
The two-sided compliance trap is now documented. US Treasury's 24 August alert tells service providers to ask counterparties who they coordinated with to transit, whether safe-passage fees were paid to Iran, and whether any Iranian services including insurance were accepted - and warns dealings with Iran's Persian Gulf Strait Authority carry sanctions risk even with no exchange of value. PGSA was designated 27 May. Iran's own four-page IRGC passage document requires a PGSA permit, five-day validity, one designated route near Larak Island, and a PGSA-approved insurance policy. Blacklist: 45 hulls on 23 August, 56 by 2 September (shanaka86). Confidence: LOW (single source, but heavily documented)
Existential exposure for the UAE: everything loading at Fujairah and every ship-to-ship transfer would land on the sanctions list; without legitimacy, shipping in the western Sea of Oman becomes fair game for launch-on-loose-authorisation cruise missiles that pick the next best target on their path (Pataramesh). Confidence: LOW
Sunday's traffic log: VELOS AMBER, BRAVO and Qatari LNG AL SHEEHANIYA all turned around in the southern corridor; AL DAYEEN transited; Turkish MERCAN finally allowed through the Iran corridor (MenchOsint). Confidence: MEDIUM
Monday morning: China-owned LISA via the Iran corridor; UAE-owned TITAN HARMONY turned around by IRGC Navy despite US Air Force support (MenchOsint). A small convoy attempted transit under USAF escort (MenchOsint). Confidence: MEDIUM
Explosions reported in the strait with anti-ship cruise missiles launched toward the southern route (MoloWarMonitor). The US is still pushing ships through the Omani lane under escort while Iran fires at them (DarioCpx). Confidence: MEDIUM
The cost of the Ansarallah blockade, quantified: the Greek-owned tanker NINEMIA took 45 days to sail from Yanbu to the Indian Ocean. Pre-blockade that voyage was 7 days (MenchOsint). Confidence: LOW
Iran threatened South Korean assets if Seoul joins the Hormuz mission (zerohedge). Iran's MFA spokesman insists the strait was wide open until 28 February and the disruption is Washington's own (IRIMFA_SPOX). Confidence: MEDIUM
Iran-US: what the carrier shot actually was, and what it wasn't
The technical read: the "test launch" framing means capability display, not kill attempt. The 101 missiles Trump previously cited were cruise missiles, not ASBMs; this is the first Iranian ASBM use against the USN, delegated from IRGC Navy to IRGC Aerospace Force. "Created hell above" the vessels suggests airburst or late-released cluster munitions - a mission-kill option rather than an unwanted mass-casualty event (Pataramesh). Confidence: LOW
The interceptor economics: the Qassem-e-Basir flies a depressed quasi-ballistic trajectory outside the SM-3 envelope and manoeuvres inside SM-6 range. Expect 3-4 SM-6 interceptors per incoming missile at $4-5M each, against limited stocks (Pataramesh). Confidence: LOW
The skeptical read: Malcolm Nance, via Mark4XX - CENTCOM confirmed ballistic (not cruise) missiles at the carrier group and the USS Washington manoeuvred; Nance believes the group was forced out of the box but not damaged. Five missiles isn't a sink attempt, that would need a coordinated salvo in the hundreds plus drones. Carriers die from fire, not a clean hole (Mark4XX). Confidence: LOW
CENTCOM appears to have pulled US Navy ships back beyond Iranian ballistic range (DarioCpx). CENTCOM separately struck three Iranian crude tankers, with Adm. Brad Cooper framing it as imposing economic cost (Lord Bebo). Confidence: MEDIUM
Sentinel-2 imagery confirms two US troop-housing buildings destroyed at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait - intact 27 August, visibly destroyed 1 September, debris cleared by 6 September (MenchOsint, follow-up). Separate low-res imagery indicates three impacts in the fighter parking area at Ahmad al-Jaber AB (AryJeayBackup). Casualty figures are not public. Confidence: MEDIUM
Diplomacy is being written off: Energy Secretary Chris Wright said a nuclear deal "may never happen" and "an agreement may await the next administration in Iran" - the alternative being "you have to destroy their capabilities" (chigrl). Confidence: MEDIUM
Netanyahu, same day: "This regime - its end is near… there is still a mission to complete" (Osint613). Confidence: LOW
Yemen: Saudi Arabia opens cruise-missile strikes on four governorates; three UCAVs lost in 24 hours
Al Masirah reports Saudi airstrikes and several cruise missiles on Al-Jawf, Al-Bayda, Ma'rib and Taiz (MenchOsint). Confidence: LOW
Three Saudi-operated UCAVs downed in 24 hours: a Wing Loong II over Taiz (MenchOsint), a CH-4 over Al-Jawf (MenchOsint), and a second Wing Loong II over Al-Bayda (MenchOsint). Each was supporting Saudi-backed ground forces. Confidence: MEDIUM
Ansarallah struck a meeting of Saudi-backed PLC commanders with a guided ballistic missile, footage released - the intelligence requirement for hitting a temporary-location meeting is the story, not the warhead (MenchOsint, war_noir). Confidence: MEDIUM
Taiz axis advance: Ansar Allah has taken ground in the Bani Bakri area, with the heights around Mount Habashi putting al-Darba - the western supply route into Taiz - under fire control (SprinterPress). Confidence: LOW
Saudi-backed forces seized the Iran-linked, US-sanctioned tanker NEREIDA after it discharged at the Ansarallah-held Ras Isa terminal without UNVIM approval (MenchOsint). Confidence: LOW
The Badr-1P shown in released footage: solid-fuelled precision upgrade of the unguided Badr-1, 150km range, 3m accuracy, 550kg warhead (MenchOsint). Confidence: LOW
Germany: AfD takes Saxony-Anhalt at ~44%, CDU halved, BSW scrapes back in
The demographic breakdown is the part the "DDR nostalgia" explanation can't carry. 61% of workers voted AfD, with every other party underperforming among them - including the SPD, which finished at ~5% of the working-class vote (FWarweg). Confidence: LOW
Exit polling puts the 18-24 vote at 42% AfD (Inevitablewest), and the party's strongest cohort at 35-44 - too young to remember the DDR (RoelofBouwman). Confidence: MEDIUM
Weidel to CNN: Merz's days are numbered, she expects early federal elections and the chancellor replaced "before Christmas", running on cutting spending, border control and deportations (fpleitgenCNN). Confidence: MEDIUM
BSW cleared 5% and is back in a Landtag. Wagenknecht is explicitly targeting majorities for an end to Russia sanctions, an energy-policy reversal and public broadcasting reform (SWagenknecht). A BSW politician floated cooperating with the AfD on energy specifically (Lord Bebo). Confidence: MEDIUM
Mail-in ballots ran heavily against the AfD relative to in-person voting - flagged as an anomaly rather than demonstrated as one (Lord Bebo). Note that Homburg had predicted exactly this pattern from care-home postal votes before they were counted, which cuts against the anomaly reading. Confidence: LOW
The dissenting take worth holding onto: AfD as "MAGA with a side of sauerkraut" - a bait-and-switch that ends in continuity of agenda, same as Meloni and Farage (BrianJBerletic). Confidence: LOW
zerohedge framed it as a "Signal To Berlin" (zerohedge). Confidence: MEDIUM
Russia-Ukraine: a leaked peace plan lands while DRGs reach 600m from Druzhkivka
The plan, unconfirmed and denied by none of the negotiators: full ceasefire, Ukrainian withdrawal from Donbas and part of Zaporizhzhia with a possible UN contingent, referendum and elections, constitutional amendments, renunciation of forcible territorial return, non-aligned status, no NATO, AFU size limits, language provisions, and a peace treaty signed by a new Ukrainian government (I_Katchanovski). Confidence: LOW
Witkoff and Kushner met Putin for three hours in Moscow, then went to Kyiv; British, French and German national security advisers joined (MenchOsint, zerohedge). Their USAF aircraft flew Moscow→Rzeszów and the delegation continued overland - Moscow was landable, Kyiv wasn't (DD_Geopolitics). Confidence: HIGH
Bloomberg's read: Putin believes he has the upper hand and demands are hardening as confidence grows (colonelhomsi, WarMonitor3). Confidence: MEDIUM
Ground truth, Dobropillya/Druzhkivka: Russian DRGs reached the northern houses of Raiske, ~600m from the first houses of Druzhkivka, and were detected in the southeastern high-rises of Bilozerske on 2 September. Of four sealed roads into Dobropillya, one is physically cut and the other three have Russian DRGs operating along them (AMK_Mapping_, detail). Confidence: LOW
Two-week territorial ledger: Kostyantynivka/Druzhkivka +53.77 km² Russia / +1.50 km² Ukraine (AMK_Mapping_); Dobropillya +12.53 / +3.27 (AMK_Mapping_). Counterpoint - on Borova, Ukrainian counterattacks took +15.22 km², re-entering Luhansk Oblast at several points (AMK_Mapping_). Confidence: LOW
24-hour map changes: advance south of Dobropillia +8 km², Russian forces entered Novopavlivka +25 km², Hruzske taken +29.6 km² (GeromanAT). Separately, Russian forces have retreated from Lyman - on the four-year anniversary of the Kharkiv counteroffensive that first took it (AMK_Mapping_). Confidence: LOW
Kramatorsk is entering the frame. A Russian DRG was detected ~1.7km from the city's first houses, and KAB glide bombs damaged the main highway bridge in the city centre - the first main bridge there to be targeted (AMK_Mapping_, bridge). Confidence: LOW
306 Ukrainian drones downed overnight across 18 Russian regions plus Crimea and the Azov/Black Sea. Impacts: a residential building in Perm, the Galaktika shopping mall in Mariupol on fire (MilitarySummary, regional list). Confidence: MEDIUM
The capital ceasefire held - no strikes on Kyiv or Moscow - while the DMK metallurgical plant in Kamyanske was destroyed and the Epicenter mall in Mykolaiv wiped out; Ukraine hit a refinery at Ryazan (MilitarySummary). Confidence: LOW
The winter problem is now explicit. Zelensky reportedly requested American LNG during the Witkoff/Kushner visit - ~90% of Ukraine's gas production sits in Poltava and Kharkiv, both well within Russian strike range (talkrealopinion). He has also said publicly that Ukraine is out of Patriot interceptors (talkrealopinion). Confidence: LOW
Russia's ambassador to Germany: Taurus deliveries would mean "a completely different conversation", with German specialists controlling the missiles as the stated reason (GudadzeLevan). Confidence: LOW
Ukraine has begun operational use of the Swedish-supplied ASC 890 AEW&C aircraft (MilitarySummary). Meanwhile 1 billion UAH in bail has been posted for Zelensky-linked officials in corruption cases, including Andriy Yermak (talkrealopinion). Confidence: LOW
Japan's record securities dump lands on the worst 10-year Treasury return in a century
Tokyo's holdings of foreign securities fell $87.8bn in August, close to the scale of the intervention itself - and Washington is on record being uncomfortable about the effect of Treasury sales on long yields (chigrl, Barchart). Confidence: HIGH
The read from the other side: Japan would rather trigger a volatility event and risk a global-markets crash than let the yen go - and the interventions only delay the arithmetic (DarioCpx). Japanese stocks sold off (Barchart). Confidence: LOW
The 10-year rolling return on Treasuries is now -2%, the worst in 100 years (essenviews). Post-payrolls closes: 30y 5.24%, 10y 4.77%, 2y 4.37% - a 20-month high on the 2y, with GDX down 3.76% (MiningStocksHQ). Confidence: MEDIUM
Foreign investors now hold a record ~$39tn in US assets, up $16tn (+70%) since the 2022 bear market, with equities doubled to $24tn and Treasury holdings at an all-time-high $8tn (KobeissiLetter). And they're historically unhedged: the exposure-weighted hedge ratio across six major markets is 41%, lowest since at least 2015, even as hedging costs fall to multi-year lows (KobeissiLetter). Confidence: MEDIUM
Dollar weakness showing up elsewhere: the yuan at its strongest since January 2023 (Barchart), the won strongest in almost two years (Barchart). Confidence: MEDIUM
The labour data keeps getting worse after the fact. June job openings revised down 177,000 - the third consecutive downward revision, and openings have now been revised down in 38 of the last 43 months (KobeissiLetter). Confidence: MEDIUM
The Information sector shed 23,000 jobs in August, taking employment to 2.75 million - its lowest since 2020, and -270,000 (-12%) from the November 2022 peak, matching the entire 2008-crisis drawdown in that industry (KobeissiLetter). Confidence: MEDIUM
France's debt level is closing in on Greece's 2009 reading (Barchart). Subprime auto 60-day+ delinquencies are the highest since 2018 (chigrl). Confidence: LOW
Week ahead: PPI Thursday, CPI Friday alongside the ECB decision - the final inflation prints before the September Fed meeting (2OnFinance). This month's options expiration is on track to be the largest in history (Barchart). Confidence: MEDIUM
Gold & silver: PBoC hits month 22, 100 tonnes of Russian gold lands in Hong Kong, and one-year silver won't lend
PBoC held 76.73M troy oz at end-August, up from 76.08M in July - the 22nd consecutive month of buying. Reported value jumped to $350.08bn from $306.35bn (chigrl). The monthly add works out to 650,000 oz / 20.22 tonnes (oriental_ghost). Confidence: HIGH
Hong Kong imported ~100 tonnes of Russian gold in the first seven months of 2026 - roughly 3x the same period in 2025, against a 92.1t full-year 2025 total, and $35bn cumulatively since 2022 (DavidLe76335983). FT covered the same flow (FT). Note: KingKong9888 initially posted this as July-alone before correcting to Jan-Jul (KingKong9888) - use the seven-month figure. Confidence: MEDIUM
The demand side of that: Hong Kong has a new 2,000-tonne gold vault that needs inventory to build a liquid market for gold as monetary and financial collateral (Kathleen_Tyson_). Confidence: LOW
The one-year silver lease market has effectively closed. The silver swap rate minus interest rates has gone sharply more negative over 30 days - it should be positive absent shortage. "Almost nobody wants to lend silver for a year. Those who do demand a high price" (KarelMercx, also flagged by goldseek). Confidence: MEDIUM
Shanghai silver opened at a claimed ~$74/oz against NY spot near $66.20 - a ~$8.22, 12-13% premium (DonDurrett). Treat as one trader's calculation, not a quoted print. Confidence: LOW
Chow Sang Sang, one of China's largest gold jewellery merchants, is expanding its gold recycling business - read as a raw-material shortage signal (oriental_ghost). Confidence: LOW
China's Treasury holdings continue to bleed: $633bn as of June, down from $684bn in 2025 and a $1.32tn peak in 2013 - the lowest since 2008 (GoldSilverHQ). Confidence: LOW
Oil & diesel: crack spreads make all-time highs while the SPR release commitment runs out
Diesel crack spreads have officially broken all-time highs. US refiners - the world's largest diesel exporters - are postponing maintenance to maximise output, against an average US refinery age of 60 years. Either they shut down or they break (puckrin). Confidence: MEDIUM
Diesel hit its highest price in history (Barchart). The framing that matters: crude is available, the product the world needs isn't - damaged refineries, reduced runs, wrong grades, depleted stocks, freight eating the arb (BurggrabenH). Confidence: MEDIUM
The SPR backstop expires this month. The US committed 172M barrels of the joint IEA 400M global release; September ends that commitment, leaving the reserve ~9M barrels below the Congressional 252.4M mandate and at levels last seen in 1982 (chigrl). Confidence: MEDIUM
Washington's answer to high prices is supply, not export restrictions: "The way to solve a supply shortage is to grow supply" - Wright (chigrl). Confidence: MEDIUM
Brent opened +0.8% after the US strikes on Iranian tankers (zerohedge). Chinese state refineries are ramping runs into drawn-down inventories, which supports crude from the demand side (WhiteTundraSG). Confidence: LOW
The clock everyone is actually watching: Bessent's claim that Iran has ~30 million barrels China hasn't yet lifted, after which sanctions plus naval blockade finish the job - with the counter-argument that Beijing treats an Iranian collapse as a direct hit on its own security (Mark4XX). Confidence: LOW
3. Weak Signals
The memory shortage may be showing up as AI revenue. HPE's Cloud & AI revenue rose 25.4% while cost of sales rose 5.9%; operating profit +205.4%, segment margin 7.0%→17.0%. Purchased parts inventory more than doubled ($4,139M→$8,419M) - and the stockpile was funded almost exactly by suppliers, with inventory absorbing $5,847M of cash against $5,870M released from payables. HPE also booked a $440M excess/obsolete provision while the pile grew, and cited longer customer acceptance timelines on AI orders (shanaka86). The awkward question for the rest of earnings season: how much AI infrastructure "demand" is a memory price index in a server chassis. Confidence: LOW
Supporting the shortage side: Samsung/SK Hynix stockpiles reportedly below 10 days of supply, KB Securities calling next year the tightest memory market in history, and memory's share of AI infrastructure cost projected to go from 40% to 57% (TrendForce: 68%) (aleabitoreddit). Confidence: LOW
~90 US data centres above 100MW are now operating, a record - projected to more than triple to ~280 by 2030 against ~$7.0tn of spend, with $1.5tn in leases already signed by Amazon, Microsoft, Alphabet and Meta (KobeissiLetter). BMO models NVDA data centre revenue at $369bn in FY27 and $559bn in FY28 (jeremie0117). Confidence: LOW
Private credit funds are rationing exits. Q1 2026 redemption requests: OCIC 21.9%, ASIF 11.6%, ADS 11.1%, HLEND 9.3% against a 5% quarterly cap. Q2: $13.7bn requested across five funds, $5.0bn paid - 37%. Q3 same answer, with BCRED carrying a $2.3bn backlog (stockdatamarket). Confidence: LOW
Tesla's Cybercab has a federal audit (AQ26002) open on whether a car with no steering wheel, pedals or mirrors is legal at all. If self-certification fails, statute caps the route at 2,500 vehicles/year against Tesla's stated 125,000 installed capacity. Tesla quietly dropped the Cybercab from its volume production sentence in the 22 July shareholder letter, citing battery pack capacity (shanaka86). Confidence: LOW
High-severity software vulnerabilities spiked past 2,200 in a single month, roughly 10x the 2022 level (Hedgeye). Confidence: LOW
Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon destroyed the Ghandour Hospital in Nabatieh al-Fawqa, with seven reported dead - despite a standing ceasefire and no Hezbollah attacks claimed for weeks (SonjaEnde, Michael van der Galien). Separately, funerals began for 100 Palestinians recovered from rubble across Gaza, most women and children (SonjaEnde). Confidence: MEDIUM
An Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767-300F overshot the runway at Miami International and struck a Tesla Cybercab lot: five dead, five injured (zerohedge, aviationbrk). The aircraft crossed the threshold at over 100 knots and the lot sits ~2,000ft beyond the runway end; an EMAS arrestor bed could have changed the outcome (Turbinetraveler). Confidence: MEDIUM
4. Noise
Trump's renaming spree - New Mexico to "New America" (KobeissiLetter), the moon, plus a White House AI video of him as Green Lantern (Nostre_damus). Newsom's two-word reply is the only proportionate response on file (GavinNewsom). Ignored: no policy content. The 61 Truth Social posts in 24 hours (Nostre_damus) is at least a tradeable tell, but it's a vibe, not a datapoint.
Long-range psychiatric diagnosis of the US president from people who have never met him (DanielLDavis1). Strong feelings, zero verifiable content.
Mandatory military testosterone testing (zerohedge) and a communist activist declaring Ozempic a fascist plot (zerohedge). Culture-war filler in an otherwise useful feed.
"Silver is going to $84. Soon. Learn to swim." (MONETARY_MAYHEM) and a gold/silver ratio to 32 implying "$200 plus silver" (JoernGebert). Price targets with no mechanism attached.
Engagement bait: "Anyone who touches this post will be rich in September" (Noahhcalls). Also, a full Anunnaki bloodline cosmology (ExposingEvil704) that somehow landed in a markets feed.
Assertions that Putin's actual calculation is the November 3 midterms (AmericaFirstCon) - plausible, unfalsifiable, and offered without evidence.
5. Stock Picks
$VIPR.V - Silver Viper Minerals (TheApeOfGoldStreet)
Position taken: 2% "lottery ticket" swing position. C$0.445, market cap C$53.4M, 82.7% below the C$2.57 52-week high after a ~87.5% drawdown from January.
Strategic holders: Fresnillo ~13.06%, Eric Sprott 5.62% basic / ~8.90% partially diluted. Raised C$17.0M at C$0.80 in Dec 2025, Sprott adding C$1.5M.
Coneto acquired from Fresnillo/Orex all-share at ~US$15M (25.53M shares at deemed C$0.80, ~15.63M to Fresnillo) - capital preserved for drilling, informed former owner converted to shareholder.
Compliant resources: 700,600 oz gold + ~39.0Moz silver across La Virginia and Coneto. La Virginia standout intercept: 11.7m @ 9.18 g/t Au and 352 g/t Ag, including 0.5m @ 183.5 g/t Au and 6,850 g/t Ag.
Catalysts: La Virginia resource update H2 2026, 25,000m expansion program, 15,000-20,000m at Coneto, Coneto resource H1 2027. Red Cloud has a C$2.50 Buy (Speculative) target.
Author's own target: C$0.80 by year-end (~80% upside), explicitly framed as a technical/marketing bet rather than a fundamental "wow" play. Flagged risk: likely capital raise ahead. Confidence: MEDIUM
$GGD / GLGDF - GoGold Resources (BrianGoodner)
Producer funding its own developer. Parral tailings operation generated a record US$21.2M operating cash flow on US$30.3M revenue from 383,695 AgEq oz in Q2 2026, with ~US$262M cash at quarter-end. July 2026: 21% production increase announced.
Los Ricos South feasibility: 91M AgEq oz P&P reserves (47.8M oz Ag, 457koz Au, 23.8M lb Cu) at 145 g/t Ag, 1.39 g/t Au, 276 g/t AgEq; underground portion averages 326 g/t AgEq.
AISC of $11.19/AgEq oz over the first five years, $12.32 over the underground mine life - against peers in the $30-50+ range. FS used $26.80 silver and $2,330 gold, so today's prices imply substantial margin expansion.
Construction commenced 25 August 2026, fully funded - cash plus Parral cash flow exceeds the US$227M initial capex. Economics at FS prices: US$355M after-tax NPV, 28% IRR, 2.6-year payback.
Optionality: Los Ricos North PEA at 110.3M payable AgEq oz, US$413M NPV, $9.68/AgEq AISC - treated as optionality, not value. 24,000+ hectare district.
Risks named: Mexico jurisdiction, construction execution against the $227M estimate, North not de-risked, Parral eventually declines. Author ranks it ~#9, "firmly top tier". Confidence: MEDIUM
$MOS - Mosaic (Kacper_PK_CH)
Trades below book near multi-year lows after a Q2 $273M net loss with phosphate margins gone negative.
The single cause: sulfur spiked above $700/lt, dragging the phosphate conversion spread below zero. DAP prices are actually rising - the input, not the output, is the problem.
Potash is unimpaired: $278M Q2 EBITDA at a $103/t margin.
The whole thesis is one variable: if sulfur normalises toward ~$450/lt, the spread flips positive and the author models +50% re-rate. Technically in a daily uptrend, escaped a bearish weekly structure. Author would trade it on a sulfur drop before the stock catches up. Confidence: LOW
$NEM - Newmont (MiningStocksHQ)
Revenue concentration by asset: Nevada Gold Mines ~$4.4bn, Peñasquito ~$3.7bn, Boddington ~$2.5bn, Yanacocha ~$2.3bn, with several others above $1bn each - against a ~$128.9bn market cap.
The point of the breakdown: last week's $1.95bn Barrick settlement folds the Fourmile, Fiberline and Mike projects into Nevada Gold Mines - which is the single largest revenue engine in the company. Additive to the biggest existing source, not a new one.
Context for entry timing: GDX fell 3.76% on the post-payrolls yield reversal. Confidence: LOW

"First far-right...Since 1945..."
You might enjoy the book Defying Hitler, by Sebastian Haffner, talking about the REAL German Right and how it was crushed by the National Socialists, whom I don't call Nazis because calling it National Socialism annoys the International Socialists and Bolsheviks, who would only call it Fascist so there was no hint it might have involved socialism.
„ AfD wins Saxony-Anhalt - first far-right state victory in Germany since 1945“
That’s just regime propaganda. The AfD platform would have been entirely mainstream and unremarkable in the 1990s. It’s a sign how far all the other parties have drifted left that it now requires a new party to put these positions on the ballot. That being said, the AfD has purged economic sanity from its ranks for the most part and wouldn’t be able to tackle the underlying fiscal issues even if it were in charge.
At least they’re sceptical of going to war with Russia which is somehow an extreme right position to hold nowadays.
